The Reviews Are In: iDRAC9 Delivers

The integrated Dell Remote Access Controller 9 (iDRAC9) has a reputation for delivering a great systems management experience – don’t just take our word for it. Take a look at these recent server reviews for the PowerEdge R240 and the PowerEdge R740xd2. Customers enjoy the end-to-end management and the ease of use that comes embedded into every PowerEdge server and server sled.

The latest version of the iDRAC9 continues to deliver comprehensive management capabilities. This version adds new security, automation and storage related features.

Security without containment

iDRAC9 enables cyber-resilience for the Dell EMC PowerEdge server portfolio. These security features give you control over how to secure your infrastructure. Cipher Suite Selection can be used to increase the security of iDRAC9 by limiting the ciphers negotiated by iDRAC9.

  • Support for HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), allows web browsers to interact using only the secure HTTPS protocol, and not HTTP.

These features, as well as, previously released features of iDRAC9, like System Lockdown, give you more control over your security policies.

Built for automation

With the latest enhancements to iDRAC automation, you can add more complex infrastructure components to your automation policies. The latest edition adds support for new updates of the DMTF Redfish standard. These updates offer management of even more server operations and devices. Updates include the flexibility to manage servers directly from an operating system interface. In addition, iDRAC has always allowed typical out-of-band management. This helps users more easily integrate PowerEdge servers into their existing processes, and provides a more consistent server management experience.

Effortlessly manage the latest technologies

Through Dell EMC partnerships with industry technology innovators, iDRAC9 maintains a robust, timely support for server components. This latest release is no exception. Through close collaboration between Dell EMC and Intel, PowerEdge servers can discover, monitor, configure and update supported Intel® Optane™ DC persistent memory and Intel® Optane™ DC SSDs agent-free through iDRAC9. This release also expands System Erase capability to BOSS M.2 drives and adds support for firmware updates for the integrated Dual SD card Module (iDSDM) for VMware ESXi.

Manage more – More completely with iDRAC9

Every new technology is introduced with management capability. But, have you considered the cost of managing every component in your server individually? With iDRAC9 you can streamline management of the critical components of your server. You can manage BIOS, RAID, NIC, thermals and more, all from the intuitive interface. You can also choose how you want to manage. You can expand iDRAC management into the host OS through the Dell EMC iDRAC Service Module (iSM), manage by commands with Dell EMC RACADM CLI, 0r, you can automate management through scripting.
